Saya

Saya is one of the more memorable side characters in Wandering Witch, or Majo no Tabitabi. She is a struggling apprentice witch from a far away eastern country who runs into the protagonist, Elaina. After a few magical training sessions that were anything but orderly, Saya herself eventually becomes a full-fledged witch. Her role changes quickly from helpless pupil to Elaina's biggest, most overly attached fangirl. You know things are about to get incredibly entertaining when she makes a surprise appearance in the story.

If you like characters that are completely down bad for the protagonist, Saya is going to be your favorite waifu. She has a really cute Eastern influenced aesthetic. She has short dark hair, deep black eyes and a sleek witch outfit that fits her title as the Charcoal Witch to a T. Fans love her because she gets that obsessive but harmless simp archetype down pat. She will stop everything to sniff a scarf Elaina left behind. I know it sounds crazy, but her dedication is so intense that it's actually hilarious. Despite her wildly clingy moments she is a really hard working and talented magic user. The contrast between her cool magical abilities and her total emotional breakdown over her senpai is just pure gold.

Saya is a great subject when it comes to wallpapers. Artists love to draw her mid-flight on her broom, or casting cool spells with her Eastern-style wand. You will see endless amazing fanart of her paired up with Elaina, usually with Saya blushing furiously or looking completely lovestruck. Her dark, elegant color palette looks amazing on phone and desktop screens. Great if you want a cute witch with a lot of personality in your background.
