Frills

Frills are an enormous part of the detailed design within anime characters. As you can see, it varies from thick and heavy ruffles associated with gothic lolita fashion to even more delicate lace on a summer sundress. It is a design that gives an anime character an immense sense of volume and luxury.

This design is loved by fans because it has a lot of texture that catches light well, especially when accompanied by soft bokeh effects and orange lighting. The details of the ruffles are usually emphasized by the artist, which is usually comprised of minute details of folds and contrasts within the ruffles.
