Akame ga Kill!

Kill Akame! runs on its reputation for being a brutal deconstruction of the typical shounen adventure and is known for getting rid of plot armor in favor of visceral, high-stakes death marching. The main character is Tatsumi, a naive village boy who goes to the Capital to save his poor home. There, he finds a horrible underbelly of sin that lies beneath the city's beauty. Night Raid, a secret group of assassins who use ancient, powerful weapons called Teigu to kill people, then hires him to help them get rid of the corrupt Prime Minister. The show doesn't coddle its viewers; it's a bloody war story with lovable characters on both sides, especially the heroes, who die suddenly and brutally to drive home the point that you can't win a violent revolution without sacrificing the people who are fighting for it.
