Azur Lane

Azur Lane is a bullet-hell shooter that turns World War II naval battles into a game with anime girls who are actually warships. As the Commander of a naval base, you lead these "shipgirls," which are anthropomorphic versions of famous ships from history, against an alien threat called the Sirens. The game is a side-scrolling mess where you have to dodge walls of colorful projectiles while coordinating air strikes and torpedo barrages. But let's be honest: people play this for the characters. The game gives famous battleships like the Enterprise, Bismarck, and Yamato their own personalities and unique designs that are strange and creative ways of showing how they were in real life. It's a waifu collector without shame, but the community loves it because the gacha rates are surprisingly good compared to other games. The huge selection of high-quality Live2D skins is what really draws people in. Some of these character designs have become famous in their own right, and they can sometimes take the focus away from the game itself.
