Chainsaw Man

Chainsaw Man is a shonen series that throws out all the usual hero stories. It's like a fever dream. Denji is a poor teen who is in a lot of debt. He merges with his pet devil Pochita to become a hybrid with chainsaws for arms and blades that come out of his body to kill enemies. The Public Safety group hires him while Makima watches closely and tries to control him. But Denji is different: he's not fighting for justice or world peace. He just wants simple things like good food, a warm place to sleep, and maybe some physical affection. The series is always brutal, mixing body horror with dark surrealism and these surprise emotional gut-punches that hit harder because everything feels so real. It takes away all the heroic polish to show someone just trying to stay alive and have normal human wants in a world where fear is literally in charge. Totally crazy in the best way.
