Fate/Apocrypha is different from the usual Holy Grail War because it doubles the chaos and replaces the usual free-for-all with a huge team-based siege. In this alternate timeline, the Grail was stolen decades ago. The Red Faction (the Mages' Association) and the Black Faction (the rebellious Yggdmillennia clan) are at war in a never-before-seen 7-on-7 "Great Holy Grail War." The story goes from focusing on one master to a large group of characters, including Ruler (Jeanne d'Arc), an impartial judge called in to enforce the rules, and Sieg, a runaway homunculus looking for meaning in his fake life. It thrives on the sheer scale of its combat, delivering a spectacle of 14 legendary spirits—ranging from the invincible Achilles to the terrifying Jack the Ripper—unleashing cataclysmic Noble Phantasms in a battle that questions the very nature of salvation and humanity.
