Fate/Zero
Fate/Zero is a dark, philosophical take on a battle royale series. It doesn't take place in a high school like its sequel does; instead, it focuses on a no-holds-barred, professional-level war. It happens during the fourth Holy Grail War, when Kiritsugu Emiya, a "Magus Killer" hired to catch this wish-granting being at any cost, takes center stage. Of course, Kiritsugu doesn't fight like other mages, who always fight with honor. He uses traditional magefire firearms, dynamite, and even assassination. He thinks like a scary philosopher: kill a few to save a lot. There are a lot of philosophical themes in the Fate/Zero series. It's about a fight between legendary heroes like King Arthur and Gilgamesh, but it's also about a fight between morals, where sins that can't be forgiven often lead to world peace.
