Kimetsu no Yaiba

With its deep tragedy and Ufotable's beautiful animation, Kimetsu no Yaiba brings the samurai genre back to life. The story takes place in Japan during the Taisho Era. Kind-hearted charcoal seller Tanjiro Kamado comes home to find that demons have killed his family, except for his sister Nezuko, who is now a demon herself. He didn't join the Demon Slayer Corps to become famous; he did it to find a way to save Nezuko and get back at the people who killed his family. The series really stands out because Tanjiro is so empathetic. He often feels bad about the demons he kills, and even as he swings his sword, he knows that they were once people with sad stories. This makes it very hard for him to kill demons and remember that they used to be people. Ufotable's animation has made sword techniques look like living woodblock prints with amazing effects. The main themes of Kimetsu no Yaiba are the sadness of living and the thrill of fighting.
