Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Alya-san
Tokidoki Bosotto Russia-go de Dereru Tonari no Alya-san takes the classic high school romance story and adds a brilliant twist: the characters can't understand each other. Alisa "Alya" Kujou is a typical ice queen who is secretly in love with her classmate Masachika Kuze. Instead of keeping it to herself, she mumbles romantic things in Russian, thinking that no one will understand her. Masachika is actually fluent and picks up on every flirty thing she says. The whole show is based on this perfect dramatic irony: Alya is basically telling Masachika how she feels every day, and Masachika is trying to keep a straight face while screaming inside. He always acts like he doesn't know what's going on, and she gets bolder with her Russian sweet-talk without knowing it. The humor comes from watching someone accidentally flirt with no filter because they think they have a language safety net. It's just so funny.
