The main character of the amazing work of art Sousou no Frieren is Frieren. She is an elven mage who has lived for more than a thousand years. She first traveled with the Hero Himmel to defeat the Demon King. But unlike most fantasy stories that end after the last battle, her story is about what happens next. That legendary ten-year adventure felt like a short moment to her because elves see time so differently. Watching her go back over her steps decades later, trying to really understand the human feelings and connections she missed the first time, makes her one of the most interesting and emotionally powerful characters in modern anime.
